David Roy

I have been a member of I.B.E.W. Local 150 for 19 years.  A member of Local 150 Safety Committee since late 1996.  A member of the National Safety Council Labor Division and, have attended 3 Labor Division meetings in Milwaukee WI., Chicago IL., Providence, RI.

I have learned that we need to create joint union and management safety programs.   And not just talk about them, but to implement and improve safety.  We need to get people to start learning and living safety so that it becomes second nature and, as a tool becomes useful.  We need to take safety and make it personal not just for ourselves, but for our partners, family, co-workers, and company.

For any members of Local 150 interested in the Safety Committee, many feel that you have to be appointed by the President of the Local, I wish to convey to you Brothers and Sisters that this Committee is open for all to join and any help would be welcome.

Gene Crovetti

I have been a member of I.B.E.W. Local 150 for 30 years and an officer for 17 years. I am the founder of our safety committee, which I established in 1989 while president. I have also been an instructor for the apprentice and journeyman wireman since 1973 (27 consecutive years). I have completed a 4-year training program at the University Of Tennessee National Training Institute and have taken various courses at U T on safety and technical training.

I am currently the vice-president of Local 150, a 3rd year apprentice wireman instructor, the Chairman of the Safety Committee and member of the C.R.G. (committee for responsible government). I am also a member of the National Association of Electrical Inspectors and have attended three seminars on code update, grounding and special circuiting. In addition, I am a member of the National Safety Council Labor Division. In the Labor Division, I sit on three committees; promotion of training and education in safety and health, construction safety and health and troubled worker safety and health. While a member of the Labor Division, I have attended Labor Division meetings/training sessions in San Diego, Las Vegas, Orlando, Milwaukee, Chicago, Providence RI and New Orleans which always prove to be very educational and valuable in networking for the Local.

The Safety Committee’s goal is to reduce incidents and improve health for our members. Through the help of some contractors, our business manager’s office, JATC, local officers and members, our goals are being realized. Our incidents are down to almost zero and our work is at an all time high.
